Iran Trump Conflict

Iran Trump conflict: Versions of the Story Reported by the Washington Post and Fox News The Conflict between Trump and Iran consisted of Trump who had Solemani killed, the general behind the Qoas forces and second most powerful person in Iran. This being a big story, it was covered by many news outlets. This controversial event also showed different opinions on weather the action should have been take or not and this is shown through different news outlets who have reported on the matter. Different media sources with different political backings. Fox news and the Washington Post are a good example of different opinionated pieces. While Fox news said that killing Soleimani was a "game-changing military attack". By using the phrase game changing Fox News is putting a positive connotation on the event that occured as game-changing is typically viewed in a positive light being understood to be game changing for the right side or person. On the other hand the Washington post sa

Anne with an E

Image
Anne Anne with an E is a great show one that I have come to really like. The main character is Anne a young orphan girl but miscommunication  sent to the Cuthberts when they asked for a boy to work their farm Green Gables. Anne seems strange at first but overtime many other characters who some in contact with Anne come to lover her whether it be for her imagination, level head, her way with words or how much she cares for others. Anne's iconic personality eventually got her the name Anne of Green Gables. So far I have only watched one season but this one season was enough to show me how much she had grown through the season since first coming to Green Gables when she first came to Green Gables she struggled with her tragic past and heavily relied on imagination to get through life by imaging stories or imaging that the world was better like one example where instead of dealing with the pain of not knowing her parents she imagined that they were apart of the royal guard. But as A

Dating sites

Dating cites Good or Bad Although many dating cites show themselves to be a good experience this may not be the case as CNN reports that online dating lowers self esteem and increases depression. The article talks about how more people's desires online are shifting towards short term sexual relationships. This is one of the ways people can get rejected. Rejection is the main problem because it's faster to get rejected on dating cites and therefore more likely to happen to you more often. something bad happening to you emotionally stimulates the same part of the brain where physical pain is processed. Because of this our brains aren't able to tell the difference between and injured body part and emotional pain which is why emotional pain is much larger than people tend to think. Dating online gives you more opportunity to feel rejected which can take a tool on how you feel about yourself. As CNN reported that a study on college student found that men and women on Tinder h

NCIS

NCIS NCIS is a favorite show of mine with a quirky group of NCIS agents who investigate the death of marines and Navy officers as well as their families. Not only that but you get to learn about the investigators themselves as a whole. They are a good example of counteracting the racial and sex bias I had been writing about a lot which is why I thought a good refresher would be nice to restore faith and humanity. Despite this being a show I like I will be using evidence and analyzing this properly. NCIS is good when it comes to portraying their characters as Ziva, Kate and abby are all able to defend the, selves abby. Kate is shown to be strong from day one as she was the only women secret service agent and had no problem standing up to Gibs (leader of NCIS team. Ziva is also shown to be strong and independent first introduced as mossad's (Israel's strong secret agents) liaison officer to NCIS she is resourceful and almost unmatched in her fighting skills. Despite being the f

SNL Macy's video

Emma Archer SNL's Macy Ad Video Recently I watched the parody of a Macy's add that SNL (Saturday Night Live) did and I thought it was really relatable. Kids screaming because their clothes are uncomfortable or don't fit right really resonates with both kids and parents. The struggle that they portrayed is so annoying every year that it makes me wonder why people go through it at all. But what I really want to focus on is how it connects to commercials today. It is satire for the traditional macy's ad and the stereotypical views of holidays in general with families perfectly lined up in a photo all wearing their pretty holiday outfits when in fact that's not completely true there's more to it and this is something that I feel like commercials go with the stereotype of having a perfect holiday or family occasion because of their product.

Missrepresentaion

Symbolic Annihilation Missrepresentation, the documentary directed by Jennifer Newsom, covered how women are seen and treated in the United states today and a big cause of this is how the media portray women and misrepresent or don't represent them at all. An important detail talked about in the documentary was symbolic annihilation. Many women aren't shown as leaders in the media and the actresses and other women portrayed by the media are shown as playthings and toys who aren't deeper than the surface. Because real women aren't represented it leads to symbolic annihilation. Symbolic annihilation is when a group is not featured in the media and start to wonder what part they play in this culture. Because they don't know what part they are meant to play or what they are meant to contribute they look towards the media and how they portray their group. In this case women see other women represented as needing to be beautiful, to be mothers, to not hold positions of

Music

Music Why is music important to us? Music is an essential part of our culture it's apart of our daily lives and has been with us as long as we remember. Well for one humans most likely learned to make music before we learned to speak so it's essential for communicating and expressing ourselves. (Fun fact although we don't know when humans first started making music the first music melody known is Hurrian hymn No.6, the oldest full music piece is "Seikilos Epitaph" which was found engraved on an old marble column used to mark a women's gravesite.)  Music allows you to express social ties and strengthen our connection to one another. Music is also linked to learning. Learning takes place in development of music skills and in the connection between music an emotional experiences. Music can have functional purposed too like promote human well being by encouraging human contact and imagination. Music can also be used to talk about politics and bring issues to li
